First weeks in Porto

I arrived in Porto on 20 September 2010.

Located along the Douro river estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centres, and registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO  in 1996. Its settlement dates back several centuries, when it was an outpost of the  Roman Empire. Its Latin name, Portus Cale ,has been referred to as the origin for the name "Portugal," based on transliteration and oral evolution from Latin.

I love the fact that it is near the ocean.

I also like the old buildings that you can see everywhere.

In my first weeks here in Porto i have explored the city as much as i could.

I have been to:

Matosinhos Beach

Rua de Santa Catarina

Palacio de Cristal

Ribeira

I believe that Porto is a beautiful city to live in.

  1. I am very glad that you like Porto. Porto is in fact, a city with character / personality. The rocks where Porto is built are granit and somehow we can almost feeel the characteristics of this type of rock in people - we are tough, we stand, we work hard, we fight, we suffer but we don't give up :-). Well, at least this is what poets say. and somehow I also feel these characteristics in me:-)
